# ModuWell > ModuWell is an integrated subsurface workstation for petroleum geoscience: one Windows desktop > application that covers well data management, wireline and scanned-raster log work, multi-well > correlation, petrophysics, surface gridding, seismic horizon interpretation, 3-D geologic > modeling, volumetrics and geobody extraction, property modeling, fault interpretation, AI data-cleanup > agents, and peer-to-peer collaboration. The prospect database is SQLite on the user's own > machine; nothing leaves it unless the user opts into collaboration or runs an AI agent. > Published by ModuWell, LLC; built by Andrew Hollenbach, PhD, a petroleum geologist in Kansas. Version 1.2.012. Windows 10 / 11, 64-bit. $3,499/yr or $399/mo, one seat; Academic by application; Enterprise by inquiry; Collaboration free for a limited time. ## Product - [Home](https://subsurfacemodels.com/): what the application is, with captures from real prospects. - [Features](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features.html): the feature web: every module, one tile per module page, in six groups. - [Pricing](https://subsurfacemodels.com/pricing.html): Annual, monthly and Enterprise; academic licensing; how AI usage is billed. - [Download](https://subsurfacemodels.com/download.html): buying, installing and updating. - [FAQ](https://subsurfacemodels.com/faq.html): cost, formats, and where the data lives. - [About](https://subsurfacemodels.com/about.html): who builds ModuWell. ## Modules Grouped as on the Modules page. ### Data - [Data](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/data.html): import LAS, SEG-Y, shapefiles, KML, GeoTIFF raster logs, CSV, Excel, Parquet and GeoJSON; browse tops, surfaces, stratigraphic stacks and subsets; export the whole prospect, a delta, or a partial set. - [Map](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/map.html): every well in the prospect on one map with real petroleum symbols; surfaces drawn as contoured overlays; status and subset filters; cross-section lines drawn by clicking. ### Structure - [Correlation](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/correlation.html): hang wells on a datum, pick formation tops, carry them across the section; those tops are what the surfaces grid from. - [Surfaces](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/surfaces.html): nine traditional interpolation methods and four locally-run ONNX models on the same tops, 128 to 2048 nodes, with a datum-versus-result validation panel. The same page covers five tools for a grid that already exists: Polisher (in-app name: Surface Polisher), Calculator (Surface Calculator), Dreamer (Surface Dreamer), **Trap & Sink Finder** and **Surface Explorer** (in-app name; formerly Explore Surface). The old Surface Tools URL redirects here. - **Trap & Sink Finder** produces a *trap census*. Particles are released on a saved surface and settle; each settled cluster becomes a row with Kind (Trap or Sink), Count, Share, Crest ft, Acres and Lat/Long. It exports as CSV or GeoJSON, or goes to the Map as an overlay. A **Trap** is a buoyant cluster resting under structural closure — a geometric result computed from the user's own grid. It is not a claim about where hydrocarbons are, and no fluid is named on the way out. - **Surface Explorer** walks a saved surface as a body rather than viewing it from above, so dip is read directly instead of inferred from a contour interval. In a live collaboration session both peers see each other and the flags they plant. - [Faults](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/faults.html): pick lineaments on structure surfaces, assemble them into faults, and trace each fault back through the provenance graph to the surfaces and picks it was built from. - [Seismic](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/seismic.html): load SEG-Y, track horizons in 1-D/2-D/3-D from a seed pick, read amplitude maps and time slices, save any of it as a surface. ### Bodies & Volumes - [Geobodies](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/geobodies.html): extract a body between two surfaces or above a flat fluid contact; shaded by thickness; traced back through the provenance graph to the surfaces it was built from. - [Volumetrics](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/volumetrics.html): GRV from a geobody by discrete grid sum and by analytic mesh integral; porosity, net-to-gross and water saturation; spill point. ### Petrophysical Logs - [Well Logs](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/well-logs.html): load digital LAS curves; depth-calibrate a scanned raster log and trace curves off it into a new or merged LAS. - [Petrophysics](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/petrophysics.html): Vshale, porosity, saturation, permeability and geomechanics as a seven-step workflow, with an interactive Pickett plot, curve groups, zonation and standard tracks. ### Modeling - [Property Modeling](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/property-modeling.html) — in the app: **Petrophysical Modeling and Simulations**: conformal layered grid on a geobody, log-curve upscaling and layer arithmetic. - [Simulations](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/simulations.html): lay out a waterflood pattern on the property map, run it on a flowbody, and play the injected water through the body in 3-D over time. Same application window as Property Modeling (Simulations tab). ### Workstation - [Data Manager](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/data-manager.html): curve groups, subsets, formation tops and aliases, surfaces, faults, and the provenance graph of bodies and geomodels. - [AI Agents](https://subsurfacemodels.com/features/ai.html): agents that consolidate formation-top names, flag picks off the structural surface, and group vendor curve mnemonics into families — each staging a proposal for approval. ## Tools that have no page of their own yet These ship in ModuWell 1.2.010 and are named here because the module pages above do not cover them. In-app menu names, from `Tools`, `Surfaces` and the workspace toolbar. - **Trap & Sink Finder** (Surfaces menu) — the trap census described under Surfaces above. - **Surface Explorer** (Surfaces menu) — walk a saved surface on foot; two-peer presence in a live session. - **Stack Studio** (workspace toolbar) — a coupled workspace: the well map, 3-D grids in space, and a cross section, driven together. - Also shipping and unpaged: Surface Calculator, Surface Dreamer, Curve-Calculator, Curve Groups, Outlier Detector, Pull From Another Prospect, New Prospect from Subset. ## Legal - [Privacy Policy](https://subsurfacemodels.com/privacy.html) - [Terms of Service](https://subsurfacemodels.com/terms.html) - [EULA & Refund Policy](https://subsurfacemodels.com/eula.html) ## Optional - [Full text](https://subsurfacemodels.com/llms-full.txt): every fact on this site in one file — formats, methods, pricing, architecture. - Contact: andrew@subsurfacemodels.com
